Fix These 5 Mistakes with Your Fort Worth Painting Company

December 23, 2016

Fort Worth painting company helps you fix mistakes. You’ve just finished painting a room in your house, and you finally get a chance to step back and enjoy it…at least that was the plan. You’re starting to notice little things wrong here and there, but you don’t know how to fix them other than just starting over. That can’t be the only solution, right? Thankfully, the most common problems usually have simple fixes, and your Fort Worth Painting company, Platinum Painting, is going to share 5 of them with you.

1. Paint on the Carpet

You look down and you see your roller seems to have found the floor, what do you do? Ideally, clean the spill up immediately. It’ll be much easier if the paint is still wet, and you’ll be able to soak most of it up with a thick sponge. You can also use a scraper to get it up. After you’ve removed it, place a dry cloth on the spot to continue to soak it up. If the spill is already dry, there are a variety of paint removers you can use, and you can always call and ask us about which one would be the best.

2. Wrinkled Paint

Wrinkling can happen if the room is too hot or cold, the paint was applied too heavily, or if there wasn’t enough time between coats. This is an easy fix, luckily. Just wait for the paint to dry and sand the wrinkled areas completely off. Then you can simply prime and repaint.

3. Bleeding Color

Is the original color much darker than the new one and it’s still showing through? You may have forgotten to apply primer, which is the key to covering up darker colors. You can save yourself from having to prime and then repaint by using paint-primer-in-one products. Which one works best? Just give us a call and we’ll let you know which one is right for your house.

4. Paint on the Ceiling

If some of your paint ended up on your ceiling, you can use some window cleaner while it’s still wet to wipe it away. If it’s dry, you can try and cover it up with a flat white paint, which is what most ceilings are. Be sure to run painter’s tape along the divide between the ceiling and the wall so you don’t mark the wall.

5. Painter’s Tape Issues

Did some of your new paint come off when you removed the painter’s tape? The tape may have been left on too long. It’s usually recommended that you take it off about an hour after you’ve finished. Once you notice this, wait for the paint to completely dry. You can then use a razor blade to cut away the rest of it. Sand the areas where the paint came off until they are smooth, and just prime and repaint.

More Problems?

Of course, this is just a small sample of what can go wrong when trying to paint your own room. How can you get rid of latex drips, or what happens if the color is too bright? Platinum Painting has specialized in painting only residences since 2008, so we know how to fix (and avoid) all kinds of mistakes that people make every day. If you’re thinking of getting a room painted, or have just finished and need a little help, give your painting company in Fort Worth a call and we know we can help you get the exact result you want.
